Madekwe is a child of a mixed-race family from South London in England. Madekwe is English, and her father was Nigerian. She was born and raised on a council estate south of London. Madekwe officially made her US debut with The Beautiful Life in 2009. The show aired just two episodes on The CW, and was then removed from the air. In February of 2011, she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. In late May 2013, it was announced that Madekwe, who been a series regular in the two previous seasons, had decided to quit the show following a guest appearance in the premiere episode of the new season. From 2014 until 2016she appeared in Salem on the CW as Tituba. Madekwe got married to her actor boyfriend Iddo goldberg in June of 2012. The two have collaborated in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and he was also on the show with Madekwe in the television series Salem.

Ashley Leggat, a twice Gemini nominated actress, was raised in a big family living in Hamilton, Ontario. The four brothers she had were present as well: twins Todd and Bram, Brett & Rob.
